First Dialysis Machines Arrive at Holy Family Hospital Techiman, Bringing Lifesaving Care to Bono East Region

A historic milestone was celebrated at Holy Family Hospital in Techiman as the Ghana Medical Trust Fund officially delivered the region’s very first dialysis machines, ending years of hardship for kidney disease patients who previously had to travel long distances for treatment.
For far too long, individuals requiring regular dialysis in the Bono East Region faced exhausting and expensive journeys to facilities in Kumasi or Accra. The lack of local services placed immense financial, physical, and emotional burdens on patients and their families.
That burden began to lift today with the arrival of two brand-new dialysis machines, generously donated by HealthTech Ghana Limited and handed over through the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
The presentation was led by Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, who officially commissioned the equipment at the hospital. The moment was filled with emotion as healthcare workers, hospital management, patients, and community members witnessed the delivery of life-changing technology right in their region.
The new machines will enable Holy Family Hospital to offer hemodialysis services locally, allowing patients to receive regular, life-sustaining treatment without the need for long-distance travel. This development is expected to significantly improve access to care, reduce treatment costs, and enhance the quality of life for kidney patients across Bono East and surrounding areas.
Health officials and community leaders hailed the donation as a game-changer for regional healthcare equity, expressing deep appreciation to HealthTech Ghana Limited for their generosity and to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund for facilitating the initiative.
With these machines now in place, Holy Family Hospital is set to begin dialysis services soon, marking the start of a new chapter in kidney care for the people of Bono East. The move underscores growing efforts to decentralize specialized medical services and bring essential healthcare closer to underserved communities across Ghana.
