Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has hinted at some of the factors that will feature in the 2027 Budget Statement, including maintaining fiscal discipline, keeping public debt sustainable and strengthening financial stability.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Director of the Financial Sector Division at the Ministry of Finance, Louis Kwame Amo, said government would also focus on entrenching price stability, building Ghana’s external buffers and deepening the capital market.
The measures, he said, are intended to consolidate the gains from economic stabilisation while creating a more conducive environment for long-term investment.
According to him, the government’s role was to establish the conditions that would enable banks to lend, businesses to expand and investors to commit capital to the economy over the long term.
“Our job is to create an environment in which banks can lend, businesses can invest and capital can take a long-term view of Ghana,” he said at the commissioning of the new Absa Bank Ghana head office on Friday, 25 September.
He further called on the private sector to leverage the improved economic environment to drive enterprise, investment and job creation, stressing that economic stability should ultimately translate into greater productive activity.
“Your job is to help turn the stability into enterprise, investment and jobs,” he said
