A trailer loaded with soya beans has crushed a commercial motorcycle (okada) rider to death in a horrific accident at Suame Maakro on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The victim, estimated to be in his late 20s, was mutilated instantly when the trailer, registered GT-1963-13, ran over him.
An eyewitness told Adom News that a hook on the long vehicle snagged the rider, who was traveling alongside, dragging and pinning him underneath.
Residents decried the site’s notorious danger amid ongoing road construction: “This is not the first time; we have seen dozens of accidents here… The work has made the road very difficult to ply, causing accidents. We hope they complete it soon to prevent further tragedies.”
Police arrived promptly, securing the scene and transporting the body to the morgue for preservation and identification.
The incident underscores persistent safety hazards on the stretch, with locals urging swift completion of repairs to avert more fatalities. Investigations are underway.
