The family of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo, together with the management and members of the Kristo Asafo Mission and his children, has expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians for the overwhelming support, encouragement and goodwill extended to them throughout the funeral and final transition of the revered industrialist and religious leader.
The appreciation was conveyed by the late Apostle’s daughter, Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo, during a thanksgiving service held at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi to mark the concluding phase of the funeral rites.
Addressing a large congregation comprising members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, friends, sympathisers and admirers of the late Apostle, Hon Adwoa Safo commended Ghanaians for standing firmly with the Kantanka family throughout the funeral process.
She said the immense show of solidarity from individuals, institutions, traditional authorities, religious bodies and the general public had provided great comfort to the family and contributed significantly to giving the late Apostle a befitting final transition.
The thanksgiving service attracted several prominent personalities, including former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who paid tribute to the late Apostle.
Dr Bawumia described Apostle Kwadwo Safo as a father figure who regarded him as one of his sons and consistently offered him counsel and encouragement.
He recounted the late Apostle’s unwavering belief in the capacity of Africans to solve their own problems, create opportunities and confront challenges through confidence and innovation.
According to Dr Bawumia, Apostle Safo’s life and works demonstrated the importance of self-belief, enterprise and the determination to develop solutions that advance society and empower the African continent.
Dr Bawumia was accompanied by his former Chief of Staff, Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; former Minister of State in the Kufuor administration, Hon S.K. Boafo; former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon Sam Pyne, who is aspiring to become the First National Vice Chairman of the NPP; and other dignitaries.
One of the poignant moments of the thanksgiving service was the appearance of a rainbow in the sky, which generated excitement among members of the congregation.
Many worshippers responded with prayers, with some interpreting the rainbow as a symbolic and comforting moment in the final transition of the late Apostle and a reflection of the joy and peace with which his earthly journey had come to an end.
The thanksgiving service brought together the Kristo Asafo community and sympathisers to celebrate the life, faith, ingenuity and enduring legacy of Apostle Emeritus Professor Ing Kwadwo Safo, whose contributions to religion, technology, industry and national development have left an indelible mark on Ghana.
