Ewurabena Aubynn to Be Sworn in as Ablekuma North MP Today

Ewurabena Aubynn, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament-elect for Ablekuma North, is set to be sworn in today, July 22, 2025, following her victory in the constituency’s parliamentary rerun on July 11, 2025.
Aubynn announced the swearing-in ceremony via a social media post on July 21, inviting party members and the public to attend. The Ablekuma North seat was contested after irregularities in the December 7, 2024, general election results led to a failed collation process.
The Electoral Commission ordered a rerun in 19 of 37 disputed polling stations, where Aubynn secured 34,090 votes, narrowly defeating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, who polled 33,881 votes.
The EC’s Greater Accra Regional office declared Aubynn the winner on July 11, flipping the seat for the NDC. The rerun was marred by violence, including assaults on NPP members like Hawa Koomson, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.
