Energy Minister to Commission Rural Electrification Projects in 13 Central Gonja Communities

Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor will commission rural electrification projects in 13 communities in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region on Saturday, October 11, 2025, advancing Ghana’s National Electrification Scheme to deliver reliable and affordable energy to underserved areas.

The initiative, part of the government’s commitment to inclusive development, aims to ensure no community is left behind in Ghana’s energy transformation agenda. The projects will extend electricity to rural and hard-to-reach areas, prioritizing socio-economic benefits like improved education, healthcare, and local enterprise opportunities.

The commissioning event will highlight the transformative impact of energy access, aligning with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition’s goal to accelerate Ghana’s shift toward a modern, green, and inclusive economy. This follows recent efforts, including a $100 million World Bank-backed project to electrify 1,000 communities nationwide, with 104 completed in the Savannah Region by July 2025.
