Empress Gifty and Nana Agradaa Settle Defamation Lawsuits Out of Court with GH¢100,000 Payment

The high-profile defamation lawsuits filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye against Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, have been officially resolved through an out-of-court settlement.
The agreement, reached on January 20, 2026, was adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, bringing a conclusive end to the two separate suits filed in May and June 2025.
Counsel for Nana Agradaa, Richard Asare Baffour, confirmed the full and final resolution, eliminating the need for a trial and further court proceedings.
Empress Gifty had sued over a series of social media publications by Nana Agradaa, which she claimed were defamatory and damaging to her personal and professional reputation as a gospel artiste. She sought GH¢40 million in damages for slander and libel, a perpetual injunction against further defamatory statements, and the removal of the offending content from online platforms.
Under the settlement terms, Nana Agradaa paid GH¢100,000 to cover legal fees and related costs, publicly retracted the statements, issued a formal apology, and requested assistance from the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to facilitate the removal of the disputed publications.
Mr Baffour stated that all terms have been fully complied with, including the payment and apology, and that Empress Gifty has formally withdrawn all claims following the adoption of the Consent Judgments.
