El Clasico Chaos: Real Madrid’s Carvajal and Courtois Confront Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in Post-Match Brawl, De Jong Slams ‘Exaggerated’ Behavior

A fiery El Clasico clash at the Santiago Bernabeu ended in a heated brawl as Real Madrid players Dani Carvajal and Thibaut Courtois confronted Barcelona’s 18-year-old star Lamine Yamal after a 2-1 victory for Los Blancos, prompting sharp criticism from Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The altercation, captured on video and erupting moments after the referee’s final whistle, underscored simmering tensions following Yamal’s pre-match comments that had irked Madrid’s camp, casting a shadow over an otherwise thrilling La Liga encounter.

De Jong, speaking to Movistar from the bench where he watched the second half, called the Madrid duo’s actions “a bit exaggerated,” urging, “Carvajal can speak to him privately.

Making the gesture on the pitch is more of the same.” He defended Yamal, denying claims the youngster accused Madrid of “stealing,” clarifying, “What has Lamine said? Has he said that Madrid steal? He has not said it, not directly.” The incident stemmed from Yamal’s earlier jibe, interpreted by some as taunting Madrid’s refereeing luck, which had fueled pre-game hype with his 17 goals and 12 assists in the 2025/26 La Liga season.

The match itself saw Barcelona take an early lead through Robert Lewandowski’s header in the 22nd minute, only for Real Madrid to roar back with Vinicius Jr.’s penalty in the 58th and Jude Bellingham’s match-winner in the 73rd, securing a 2-1 triumph that put Madrid atop La Liga with 24 points, one ahead of Barça. De Jong lamented Barça’s second-half struggles, noting, “In the first half we weren’t sharp with the ball… In the second half we lacked the ability to create danger and clear chances.”

The brawl, involving pushing and heated exchanges before stewards intervened, has sparked La Liga’s disciplinary committee to review footage, with potential fines or suspensions looming for Carvajal and Courtois.

As Barcelona lick their wounds and Madrid celebrate, the fallout from Yamal’s clash may linger, testing team unity and fueling the next chapter of this storied feud.
