Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah is reportedly on the verge of switching his international allegiance from England to Ghana, according to former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara.
Sannie Daara disclosed the development in a post on X on Thursday, September 10, stating that the necessary paperwork for the switch was being prepared for submission to FIFA.
“England star Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of switching allegiance to play for Ghana,” he wrote.
“The required paperwork is being put together to be sent to FIFA for consideration.”
FIFA Approval Required
The potential switch would make the 27-year-old forward eligible to represent the Black Stars, subject to FIFA approval and the completion of the required nationality-switch process.
Nketiah was born in England to Ghanaian parents and represented England at youth level before making his senior debut for the Three Lions in 2023.
His decision to switch allegiance would make him available for Ghana as the Black Stars prepare for upcoming international assignments.
Nketiah Recovering From Knock
Nketiah is also currently recovering from a knock and is expected to return to training on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The striker joined Crystal Palace after previously featuring for Arsenal, where he came through the club’s academy and made his senior breakthrough.
If the reported switch is completed and approved by FIFA, Nketiah could become another attacking option for Ghana ahead of the team’s upcoming international engagements.
