The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is conducting essential maintenance works on Sunday, July 13, 2025, resulting in temporary power outages across parts of the Greater Accra, Tema, and Western Regions.
Announced on July 11, 2025, these interventions aim to upgrade infrastructure, enhance service reliability, and improve energy delivery amid a 10-15% annual increase in electricity demand over the past decade. The maintenance involves replacing ageing equipment, upgrading transformers, clearing vegetation, and improving substation capacities to minimize unplanned outages and voltage fluctuations. Western Region:
Morning Operation (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Vienna City, Mankessim White House, Accra Station, and surrounding communities.
Extended Operation (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Daboase, Sekyere Krobo, Sekyere Nsuta, Aboaboso, Bosomase, and nearby areas. These regions, critical for mining and agriculture, rely heavily on stable power.
Tema Region:
Duration (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM): Mobole, Ataa Mensah, Boishe, Afienya, Philip Kope, Greenhouse Enclave, and environs. As a major industrial hub, temporary disruptions may impact factory production schedules.
Greater Accra Region:
Industrial & Residential Zones (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Kings Cottage, KICC, Taxis Tires, Western World, Guinness Depot, Rebecca Fashion Manufacturing Ltd, Frosty Bite Company, Perfect Pharmaceutical, Shivan Ghana Ltd, Mawums, Akuaba Refinery, Eskay Pharmaceutical, Royal Crown Ltd, West Coast Beverages, Equator Foods, Intelligent Card Products, Healthy Life, DPS, Daysack Company Ltd, Afro Tropic, and adjacent areas.
Specific Accra Area (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Timber Market, Adedenkpo, and surrounding communities, where commercial activities may face temporary halts.
