ECG Goes Fully Cashless, Warns Customers Against Fraudsters Demanding Payments

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has declared that it is now fully cashless and no longer accepts physical cash for any electricity-related transactions.

In a public alert issued recently, ECG emphasized that it does not request payments through phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or any unsolicited contact.

Any call, message, or person claiming to be from ECG and demanding payment (especially cash or mobile money transfers to personal accounts) is fraudulent and should be ignored.

Customers are urged to treat all unsolicited payment demands with suspicion and to never share personal or financial details in response to such contacts.

To help fight fraud, ECG encouraged the public to immediately report suspicious calls, messages, or individuals to its customer service line: 0302 611611.

The company stressed that customer vigilance and cooperation are essential to protect both consumers and ECG from financial scams and losses.
