Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to Launch NPP Presidential Primary Campaign Tour in Ashanti Region

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to embark on a three-day campaign tour across the Ashanti Region from September 10 to 12, 2025, to rally support ahead of the party’s presidential primary on January 31, 2026.
The tour aims to engage party delegates and members, outlining his vision for the NPP and Ghana while promoting unity, peace, and reconciliation.
The campaign will cover seven key operational zones in the Ashanti Region—Adansi, Amansie, Asante Akim, Sekyere-Kumawu, Afigya Kwabre, Mampong Nsuta, Ahafo, Atwima, and Kumasi Zones 1 and 2—ensuring comprehensive outreach to the party’s stronghold. Dr. Bawumia and his entourage will meet with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs, CEOs, the Regional Council of Elders, and former party executives to formally announce his candidacy and seek their endorsement.
The tour kicks off on Wednesday, September 10, in the Adansi, Amansie, and Asante Akim zones, followed by Sekyere Effiduase-Kumawu, Nsuta-Mampong, and Afigya Kwabre on Thursday. The final leg on Friday will cover Ahafo, Atwima, and the two Kumasi zones. Dr. Bawumia’s campaign emphasizes collective effort and party unity to strengthen the NPP’s agenda for the 2028 general elections.
Sources close to the campaign indicate that this preliminary tour will be followed by grassroots engagements with electoral area coordinators and polling station executives to further energize the party base. The Ashanti Region, a traditional NPP stronghold, is critical for securing delegate support in the upcoming primary, making this tour a pivotal step in Dr. Bawumia’s bid for the party’s leadership.
