DR Congo Battles Fresh Ebola Outbreak as Death Toll Reaches 65

Health authorities in Democratic Republic of the Congo have confirmed a fresh Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province, with at least 65 deaths recorded from 246 suspected cases. The outbreak has severely affected the Mongwalu and Rwampara health zones, while additional suspected cases have emerged in Bunia, the provincial capital.
Africa CDC says emergency response measures are underway as neighboring countries, including Uganda and South Sudan, intensify border surveillance to prevent further spread.
Preliminary investigations suggest the outbreak may involve a non-Zaire strain of the Ebola virus, an unusual development that has drawn international health attention. Authorities continue containment efforts as fears grow over possible regional transmission.
