Dormaahene Praises Mahama’s Leadership, Says Ghana Is on the Right Path

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has commended President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, describing the country as moving in the right direction under his leadership.
In a viral video shared on X on Sunday, December 28, the traditional ruler acknowledged the government’s policy direction and economic management, despite stressing that he is not affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, his refusal to support the NDC is based on personal reasons. However, he maintained that fairness demands recognition of what he described as sound governance under President Mahama.
“I will never support the NDC. I am not affiliated to the NDC and I will not support them till I die. I have been an NPP member before, but anyone who says that the country is not moving in the right direction under President Mahama is lying,” the Dormaahene stated.
He further pointed to signs of economic improvement, citing the current cedi-to-dollar exchange rate of GH¢11.49 as an indication of relative stability in the foreign exchange market since President Mahama assumed office.
The traditional leader also referenced actions taken by the government to revive the economy, including a directive by the President for the Ministry of Finance to release GH¢1 billion to contractors who had been owed by the state since 2017. The move, he noted, is expected to help clear long-standing arrears and stimulate economic activity.
President Mahama’s administration has been in office for about 11 months, with government officials consistently highlighting debt payments, currency stability, and economic recovery as key priorities of the reset agenda.
