The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Nelson Rockson Dafeamekpor, says detained Asante Akyem North MP Kwame Ohene Frimpong is in good condition while being held at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Midday News on Wednesday, Dafeamekpor assured the public that the legislator was safe and had not been subjected to any form of mistreatment while in custody.

“He is fine”

According to the Majority Chief Whip, information available to Parliament indicates that the MP remains stable despite the ongoing detention.

“He is well, he is not being maltreated. He is fine, he is just in detention, nothing untoward has happened to him,” Dafeamekpor stated.

US warrant reportedly behind detention

He further disclosed that updates received by parliamentary leadership suggest the detention may be linked to a warrant issued by authorities in the United States.

However, Parliament is yet to receive full details regarding the contents of the warrant or the specific allegations involved.
