CVET Arrests 54-Year-Old Man for Repeated Sexual Abuse of 9-Year-Old Girl in Tesano

The Ghana Police Service’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested 54-year-old Awudu Razak, also known as Oluman, a resident of Tesano in the Greater Accra Region, for allegedly repeatedly sexually molesting a 9-year-old girl (name withheld).
The suspect was apprehended following an incident on Sunday, February 15, 2026, during which he reportedly sodomised the victim. When the child threatened to report the abuse to her father, Razak allegedly assaulted her further and locked her inside his room, instructing her not to leave until midnight to evade detection.
Police acted swiftly on the report, rescuing the victim and ensuring her safety by placing her in the care of her paternal uncle. The child is receiving necessary support and protection.
Awudu Razak remains in police custody, where he is assisting with ongoing investigations into the repeated abuse. The case is being handled with urgency given the vulnerability of the minor involved.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding children and protecting all members of the public from sexual and gender-based violence. Authorities urged anyone with information related to this or similar cases to come forward, assuring confidentiality and prompt action.
This arrest highlights the critical role of CVET in addressing crimes involving children, including those with potential digital or community elements that may require specialised vetting and enforcement. The team continues to collaborate with relevant child protection agencies to ensure justice and victim support.
Parents and guardians are reminded to remain vigilant, educate children on personal safety, and report any suspicious behaviour or signs of abuse immediately to the nearest police station or child protection hotlines.
