“Check Your Phone Settings”: Sam George Rejects Claims of Fast-Draining MTN Data

Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has dismissed complaints from some MTN users about rapidly depleting internet data, stating there is no evidence to support these claims.

Speaking on July 24, 2025, he urged Ghanaians to verify their phone settings to address data usage concerns.

Following complaints, including from popular Ghanaian comedian DKB, the Minister ordered an investigation into the issue. The probe found no evidence of unusual data depletion. “That claim is not backed by any evidence,” George said, noting that DKB later retracted his complaint.

He advised users to check their device settings before making claims, emphasizing that no data supports the allegations of fast-draining MTN data.
