Breaking: Illegal Cannabis Liqueur Factory Busted in Offinso Poultry Farm

Authorities have shut down an illegal factory producing cannabis-infused alcoholic drinks hidden inside a poultry farm in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The joint operation by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) took place in Ntiribuoho.

The hidden operation was discovered in a two-bedroom house cleverly set up among the chicken coops. Intelligence had revealed that this secret location was being used to make a cannabis-laced liqueur commonly known as Famude, also sold as Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.

One Arrest Made, Search for Others Underway

Seven officers, four from NACOC and three from the FDA, carried out the raid. During the bust, they seized a large amount of unapproved alcoholic beverages and suspected narcotic substances. One individual was arrested at the scene, while other suspects fled and are currently being pursued by law enforcement.

After the operation, officials from both NACOC and the FDA stressed their dedication to protecting public health and safety by targeting the illegal production and sale of unlicensed products. They warned that unregulated items like cannabis-laced liqueurs pose serious health risks and break Ghana’s drug and food safety laws.

“This operation underscores our joint resolve to clamp down on the distribution of harmful and illegal substances in our communities,” an FDA spokesperson stated. “We are intensifying surveillance and enforcement across the country.”

Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities and to avoid consuming unapproved products that could harm their health.

The arrested suspect is currently in custody and helping with the ongoing investigation, as efforts continue to locate the remaining individuals involved in the operation.
