Black Maidens Cruise to 6–0 Win Over Liberia in U-17 World Cup Qualifier

Ghana’s Ghana women’s U-17 national football team delivered a dominant performance at the Accra Sports Stadium, thrashing Liberia 6–0 in the first leg of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie.

The emphatic victory puts Ghana in a commanding position ahead of the return leg in Liberia, as they edge closer to securing qualification for the global tournament.

Hundreds of fans, including the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, were present to witness the one-sided encounter. The team impressed with an energetic, disciplined and fluid attacking display from start to finish.

Ghana controlled proceedings early and never looked threatened, delighting supporters with a confident performance that reflected their preparation and cohesion.

After the match, Dr Lartey visited the dressing room to congratulate the players and technical team, urging them to maintain focus ahead of the decisive second leg.

She reiterated government’s commitment to developing women’s football and supporting young female athletes across the country.

The minister also conveyed goodwill messages from Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and First Lady Mrs Lordina Mahama, encouraging the team to remain determined in their qualification quest.

With a six-goal cushion, the Black Maidens will travel to Liberia in a strong position as they aim to complete the job and book their place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
