BEAUTICIAN ALLEGEDLY BEATEN TO DEATH IN KUMASI; SUSPECT REMANDED

A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sally Benson, in a suspected domestic violence incident at Ayigya-Maxima in Kumasi.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 14, 2026, after the deceased visited the suspect’s residence with a friend following reports that another woman had been there. The suspect was initially absent, but upon his return, a confrontation ensued.
Prosecutors say the situation escalated into a heated argument during which the suspect allegedly assaulted Sally Benson repeatedly.
A witness account cited by the family claims she was beaten until she collapsed, after which water was poured on her in an attempt to revive her.
The suspect reportedly transported her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Family demands justice
The victim’s father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, expressed grief and called for justice.
“I want justice. We are all in a nation governed by law. We don’t take the law into our own hands. The law must deal with this matter accordingly,” he stated.
Court proceedings
The accused appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, and has been remanded into custody. He is expected to reappear on May 8, 2026.
Sally Benson, a well-known beautician and business owner in Kumasi, had reportedly been in a relationship with the suspect for over 10 years. Her death has left family, friends, and clients in shock.
