Bawumia Gains Strong Backing in Akuapem and Okere Constituencies

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 elections is gaining speed. Party leaders in the Eastern Region’s Akuapem area have given him strong support during his tour.
Since Monday, Bawumia has won backing from MPs, former officials, candidates, and executives. On Friday, more leaders in Akuapem South, Akuapem North, and Okere joined in.
In Akuapem South, Chairman Dankwa Peter Addo endorsed him. In Akuapem North, Omane Mensah Bonso called Bawumia the most “marketable” candidate. In Okere, Justice Yaw Mensah said he is “formidable” to win in 2028.
Former Okere MP Brandford Kwame Daniel Adu also backed Bawumia. He urged members to support him for the January 2026 primaries.
At the grassroots, 29 out of 31 electoral area coordinators in Akuapem North pledged full support. “We will work hard to make you win,” they promised.
Bawumia’s team said the welcome was “electric” and shows his wide appeal in the party.
