Baba Jamal Pledges GH¢5,000 Support for Each Victim of Nima Market Fire

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has pledged financial support for traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Nima Market in Accra.

Speaking during a visit to the scene, the lawmaker announced that each affected trader would receive GH¢5,000 as immediate assistance to help rebuild their businesses after the devastating fire destroyed several shops and goods.

Mr. Jamal also called on the government to support the construction of an ultra-modern market in the constituency to improve trading conditions and reduce the risk of future fire outbreaks.

“This is a serious tragedy that has affected our people. My MCE and NADMO officials rushed here last night to assist, but you can clearly see the extent of the devastation,” he stated.

He expressed sympathy to all traders and residents impacted by the incident and appealed to both government and the general public to support the victims during this difficult period.

“I want to send my heartfelt sympathies to everyone who has lost their wares and livelihoods. I also call on the government, the President, and the entire nation to come to the aid of the affected people,” he added.

According to the MP, some victims have already submitted their details to him to facilitate the distribution of the support package.

The fire outbreak at Nima Market destroyed goods and properties belonging to several traders, although no casualties were recorded. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
