The Atebubu-Amantin Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern office complex to serve the constituency.
The project is expected to be completed within six months. The first floor will house a conference hall, three offices, a kitchen and washrooms, while the second floor will contain another conference hall, a mini executive hall, four offices each with toilet and bath facilities, and a large compound for a car park and other facilities.
The sod-cutting ceremony was graced by Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi, Atebubu-Amantin Member of Parliament Sanja Nanja, Municipal Chief Executive Mas’ud Musah Ayarba Thomas, NDC Bono East Regional Chairman Unas Owusu, former NDC Member of Parliament Amadu Ali, members of the Youth Wing, Mahama Ladies and other prominent party members.
Speaking to STAR FM, the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, said it was necessary for the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency to have an ultra-modern office complex for its day-to-day activities.
He said the project requires GH¢1.4 million and will be funded by the constituency and members outside the area.
According to him, before the official sod-cutting, the constituency executives had already raised about GH¢400,000 in cash and items, demonstrating the preparedness and need for the office.
He noted that before, during and after construction, all party members would serve as supervisors.
The Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin, Sanja Nanja, said the pictures of all constituency party members who support the project would be framed and placed in the office library as a legacy.
He stressed that it was important for the constituency to have a befitting party office.
He further disclosed that the constituency has a large number of members and that if each member supports the project, it would be easy to complete the structure. He added that under no circumstances would government funds be channelled into the project.
