Asante Kotoko Supporters Chairman Solomon Ofosu Ware has urged supporters of the club to lower their expectations and exercise patience as the Porcupine Warriors continue their rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Kotoko are currently in Accra for the second phase of their pre-season preparations as the technical team works on putting together a squad capable of competing in the new campaign.
The club has made significant changes to the playing squad, with several new players joining the group while a number of familiar faces have been left out as part of the ongoing restructuring.
Ofosu Ware, in an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, believes the extent of the rebuilding means supporters may need to be patient before demanding immediate success.
“For a team that finished 8th last season, expecting an immediate league title this season would be a very difficult demand. I therefore appeal to the supporters to be patient and temper their expectations. That said, it does not mean Asante Kotoko cannot compete for and ultimately win the league.”
Kotoko finished eighth in the previous league campaign, and the club is now hoping the changes being made during the off-season can help restore the team to title-winning contention.
Despite his call for patience, Ofosu Ware insists the club must still recruit quality players and produce performances that meet the standards expected at Kotoko.
“The technical team must give us quality players, beautiful football and, most importantly, results.”
He further stressed that significant reinforcements will be required if Kotoko are serious about ending their wait for another league title.
“Based on what we saw from the team last season, if Asante Kotoko are serious about winning the league, we need at least eight top-quality, Grade A players to strengthen key positions. Without those reinforcements, we may have to forget about the league title.”
Kotoko have now gone four seasons without winning the Ghana Premier League, increasing the pressure on the club to deliver a major trophy.
With the second phase of pre-season now underway in Accra, attention will be on how quickly the new-look squad can gel and whether the technical team can turn the rebuilding exercise into a competitive side.
For Ofosu Ware, the message is clear: supporters should be patient, but patience should not mean lowering the standards expected of Asante Kotoko.
