Ghana captain Andre Ayew has ruled out retirement for now, revealing that he is considering offers from two or three clubs as he weighs up the next chapter of his football career.
The 36-year-old made the revelation while speaking to former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi on the Obi One Podcast in Accra on Sunday.
Ayew, who is currently without a club after leaving Dutch side NAC Breda at the end of last season, said he remains determined to continue playing during the 2026/27 season.
“I want to play this season,” Ayew said.
The experienced forward’s comments have ended speculation that he could bring his illustrious career to an end following his departure from NAC Breda.
According to Ayew, two or three clubs have expressed interest in signing him, and he is carefully assessing the offers before deciding where to continue his career.
Despite being without a club, the Ghana captain has continued training in Ghana to maintain his fitness and remain ready for a return to competitive football.
Ayew has enjoyed an extensive career across several European leagues. He established himself at French club Marseille before moving to England, where he played for Swansea City and West Ham United. He later had spells with Fenerbahçe and other clubs before moving to the Netherlands.
At international level, Ayew has been one of Ghana’s most experienced and influential players of his generation. He has earned more than 120 appearances for the Black Stars and represented Ghana at several major international tournaments.
His continued availability could therefore provide another option for the national team as Ghana prepares for upcoming international assignments.
For now, Ayew remains focused on finding the right club rather than bringing his career to an end.
With two or three options reportedly available, the veteran forward’s next decision will determine where he continues his football journey in the 2026/27 season.
