All Five Aspirants Pass NDC Vetting for Ayawaso East Parliamentary Primary

All five aspirants vying for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary slot in the Ayawaso East constituency have successfully passed the party’s vetting process, paving the way for the primary scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026.

The vetting exercise took place at the NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Office and concluded without any major hitches. Immediately after vetting, the aspirants proceeded to draw lots for their positions on the ballot paper.

Following the balloting, the order on the ballot is as follows:

Mohammed Ramme – Party Constituency Chairman
Hajia Amina Adam – Widow of the late MP, Mahama Naser Toure
Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed – Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria
Yakubu Azindow
Najib Mohammed

Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, commended the aspirants for their discipline and cooperation throughout the process.

“We’ve also admonished them to go into the constituencies to do their needful by campaigning and ensuring that the right things are being done, just to ensure that what we started from the beginning will end successfully,” he said on Wednesday, January 28.

The Ayawaso East primary is expected to attract significant attention as the party prepares to elect its candidate for the parliamentary by-election, fixed by the Electoral Commission for March 3, 2026, following the death of the sitting MP, Mahama Naser Toure.

The contest comes at a critical time for the NDC, which is seeking to consolidate its hold on the seat and maintain strong representation in the Greater Accra Region ahead of future elections. All five aspirants are now cleared to campaign actively among party members and delegates in the constituency.
