Afenyo-Markin Backs Black Stars to Shine at 2026 World Cup

Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has expressed confidence in the ability of the Ghana national football team to excel at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at the launch of the Black Stars Balloon Tour at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Afenyo-Markin urged Ghanaians to remain united and fully support the national team throughout the tournament.
“The Black Stars are capable of surprising the world. Ghanaians must remain united and support the team throughout the journey,” he stated.
According to him, the national team continues to serve as a source of inspiration for many young people across the country, and a successful World Cup campaign would bring pride and hope to Ghanaians.
He stressed that the players must feel the support of the entire nation as they prepare for football’s biggest global competition.
“The players must know that the entire nation is behind them as they embark on this important journey,” he added.
The Ghana national football team are preparing for their fifth appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after successfully qualifying for the expanded tournament.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team.
