Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has accused her brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, of undermining the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, amid the ongoing leadership and funeral dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, July 28, Adwoa Safo described her brother’s actions as disappointing, alleging that his pursuit of the church’s leadership has fueled the public disagreement surrounding the family’s affairs.
She expressed concern that the dispute has overshadowed the legacy of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, insisting that leadership of the church should not be pursued through conflict or public confrontation.
“It is embarrassing and a shame that one person in the family wants to wash our dirty linen in public and engage the media all the time,” she said.
Adwoa Safo further criticised her brother for what she described as a lack of responsibility, arguing that rather than taking responsibility for matters concerning their father’s funeral and legacy, he has focused on opposing decisions already taken.
According to her, anyone aspiring to lead the church should demonstrate patience and allow the process to take its natural course rather than attempting to force the issue.
“If God wants you to lead the church, it will happen. But don’t force your way through it or use any means to secure the position,” she stated.
She maintained that pastoral leadership is a calling and cannot be attained through pressure or personal ambition, warning that such actions could damage both the church’s image and the individual’s reputation.
Her comments come amid an escalating disagreement over the funeral arrangements for Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
The church recently stated that it had not been officially informed of any agreed funeral or burial arrangements for the late founder. However, Adwoa Safo has rejected those claims, insisting that the funeral will commence on Thursday, July 30, with the remaining rites scheduled for the days that follow.
