Veteran Ghanaian actress Christiana Awuni has revealed that she still relies on Uber for transportation despite her long career in the movie industry.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM with presenter Nana Romeo, the actress disclosed that she does not currently own a personal vehicle and continues to use ride-hailing services in her daily movements.
According to her, former President John Dramani Mahama had previously gifted her a saloon car through the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) in 2016. However, she claims the vehicle was later taken away after the change of government under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“At my age, I still take Uber because I don’t own a car,” she said during the interview.
Her comments have sparked renewed public discussion about welfare support for actors and the sustainability of livelihoods within Ghana’s creative arts industry.
