Abronye’s detention is about discipline, not politics – Nana Yaa Jantuah
Presidential staffer and former Convention People’s Party General Secretary, Nana Yaa Jantuah, has reacted to the detention of Kwame Baffoe, insisting the matter should be treated as an issue of discipline and decorum rather than politics.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, she condemned the use of insults in political discourse, stressing that criticism should never descend into personal attacks.
“Anybody at all wants to insult President Mahama. I don’t like insults, no matter who you are,” she stated, adding that she was raised to avoid abusive language and still upholds those values.
According to her, political leaders and party communicators must focus on constructive criticism instead of engaging in offensive commentary.
“You can criticize a person, but raw insults are bad,” she said.
Nana Yaa Jantuah argued that every political party has disciplinary structures and questioned why the New Patriotic Party had not acted earlier regarding Abronye’s conduct.
“This is not political. It is about indiscipline, and the party must discipline him,” she stressed.
She also referenced previous disciplinary proceedings involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, urging consistency in how parties enforce their internal rules.
“The party should have summoned him long ago. There should be decorum in public discourse,” she added.
Nana Yaa Jantuah further expressed concern that the issue was being politicised instead of being addressed as a matter of conduct and responsibility.
