Abronye DC Re-Arrested, Remanded for Two Weeks Over Alleged False Publication

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody for two weeks as investigations into alleged misinformation and offensive public comments continue.

Re-arrest follows earlier bail

Abronye DC was re-arrested on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, just weeks after he had been granted bail in connection with the same case.

The outspoken politician was initially arrested on April 13 over allegations including offensive conduct, false publication, and statements allegedly capable of causing fear and panic among the public.

Although he was later released on bail while investigations continued, security agencies have now taken him back into custody as the probe deepens.

Investigations ongoing

Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the latest arrest. However, sources close to the investigation say the case forms part of broader efforts by security agencies to clamp down on the spread of alleged false information and inflammatory public remarks considered capable of disturbing public order.

Officials are yet to confirm whether additional charges will be filed against the NPP regional chairman.

Political reactions expected

The development is likely to generate political debate, particularly within the New Patriotic Party, where Abronye DC remains one of the party’s most vocal figures.

The case continues to attract public attention as investigations proceed.
