440 Ghanaians Repatriated From Côte d’Ivoire, 246 QNET Victims Rescued From Nigeria – Ablakwa
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that hundreds of Ghanaians linked to QNET activities have been rescued or repatriated from Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire since 2025.
According to the Minister, 440 Ghanaians have been repatriated from Côte d’Ivoire, with most of them reportedly being victims of QNET activities and a mass demolition exercise.
He added that 246 victims of QNET activities have also been rescued from Nigeria within the same period.
Warning to Prospective Migrants
Speaking to journalists, Mr Ablakwa cautioned Ghanaians, particularly the youth, against falling victim to illegal recruitment agencies and human trafficking networks.
He said such groups often lure unsuspecting individuals with promises of lucrative employment opportunities and better living conditions abroad, only for them to end up in difficult and exploitative circumstances.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its caution to Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to be conscious of the modus operandi of illegal recruitment agencies and human trafficking networks that promise greener pastures, milk and honey on the other side,” he said.
The Foreign Affairs Minister urged prospective migrants to thoroughly verify recruitment agencies, employers and job offers before travelling abroad.
He stressed that proper verification could help prevent Ghanaians from falling victim to trafficking, exploitation and other forms of abuse associated with fraudulent overseas recruitment schemes.
The latest figures highlight the challenges faced by Ghanaians who travel abroad through questionable recruitment channels and the need for greater vigilance when considering employment or business opportunities outside the country.
