2025 NSMQ Launched with Record 174 Schools, Ofori Panyin SHS to Open Contest

The 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) was officially launched on October 15, 2025, setting the stage for a historic competition featuring a record 174 senior high schools vying for academic supremacy in science and mathematics.
The launch event, attended by education stakeholders, students, and media, included the balloting for match-ups, with Ofori Panyin SHS, Kpando SHS, and Awe SHTS slated to kick off the preliminary stage from October 20 to 24.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu ignited excitement, declaring, “Let the bragging begin!” as he urged schools to showcase their intellectual prowess. The competition, produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service, will see the One-Eighth stage from October 26–28, Quarter-Finals on October 30, Semi-Finals on November 3, and the grand finale on November 6, 2025.
Achimota School’s choir set a vibrant tone at the launch, hosted at the GNAT Hall in Accra. The NSMQ, Ghana’s longest-running academic contest, will be broadcast live on Joy News, Joy Prime, and Joy FM, drawing millions of viewers, including alumni and enthusiasts. Sponsors include NASCO, VitaMilk, Ayuda, Virtual Security Africa, and Family Health Medical School, among others.
