15 Passengers Killed in Head-On Crash Between Bus and Ambulance Near Mankranso

A devastating head-on collision between a Ford Transit bus and an ambulance claimed the lives of 15 people on the Kumasi-Drobo road at Tikrom near Mankranso.
The Ford Transit, registration number GT K5676-19, was travelling from Kumasi to Drobo when it smashed into the oncoming ambulance, which was rushing a pregnant woman from Drobo to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for emergency care.
All 15 passengers aboard the bus died in the crash. Authorities have not yet released details on the condition of the pregnant woman, the driver, or other occupants of the ambulance.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Mankranso Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.
In a separate incident early Monday morning, March 2, a pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a private Ford vehicle at Kumasi South Junction, New North Suntreso.
The vehicle, registration number 2821-15, knocked down the victim in the early hours. His identity has not been established, but he is believed to have been walking from the North Suntreso area at the time.
The driver reportedly stopped after realising the pedestrian had died, parked the vehicle, and voluntarily reported himself to the North Suntreso District Police Command.
The body remained at the scene pending police conveyance to the morgue for preservation and further investigation.
Police in both cases have begun investigations to determine the exact circumstances, including speed, road conditions, visibility and possible driver error.
These incidents add to the growing list of fatal road crashes in the Ashanti Region, renewing urgent calls for stricter enforcement of traffic rules, improved road signage and greater driver responsibility on busy highways.
Our deepest sympathies go to the families and loved ones of all those who lost their lives in these tragic accidents.
