A joint military and police team has arrested 11 people and seized a pump-action gun, ammunition and other security-related items during an intelligence-led operation at Kromase, near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.
The operation, led by Major Muktar Saani, Combat Team Commander, was conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
According to the Ghana Armed Forces, the cordon-and-search operation was aimed at identifying and disrupting activities that could threaten peace and security in the area.
Items recovered from rooms occupied by some of the suspects include:
- 1 black pump-action gun
- 21 live AAA cartridges
- 2 live BB cartridges
- 1 brown body armour
- 1 locally made ammunition belt
- 1 police uniform
The suspects, whose ages range from 17 to 70, have been taken to the operational base and are assisting with investigations.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the security agencies to strengthen security and maintain peace in the Nkwanta area.
