We Will Not Be Intimidated” – Afenyo-Markin Speaks Out After Chaotic Vetting Session
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has spoken out against what he describes as attempts to intimidate the Minority by the NDC members on the Appointments Committee. This comes after a chaotic scene erupted during Thursday evening’s vetting session.
Afenyo-Markin defended the Majority’s stance, stating that they will continue to ask necessary questions during the vetting process. “We will not be deterred from doing our job,” he said. “We have a responsibility to ensure that the nominees are thoroughly vetted, and we will not be intimidated by anyone.”
He explained that an agreement had been reached to vet three nominees, but the Minority later attempted to push for additional nominees without proper consensus. “We had agreed to vet three nominees, but the Minority kept changing their position,” he said.
Afenyo-Markin also accused the Majority of unilaterally making changes to the agreed vetting schedule. “The chairman and ranking member are supposed to agree on the schedule, but that did not happen,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Afenyo-Markin remains committed to ensuring that the vetting process is fair and transparent. “We will not boycott the process,” he said. “We will continue to do our job and ensure that the nominees are thoroughly vetted.”

The vetting process is expected to continue, and it remains to be seen how the Appointments Committee will navigate the rest of the process without further confrontations
