2024 BECE Results Released
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates. The results come after a thorough investigation into various cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts.

A total of 42 candidates’ results have been cancelled due to examination malpractice. This includes 41 school candidates and one private candidate. Additionally, the subject results of 377 school candidates and three private candidates have been cancelled for bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates.
Furthermore, the results of 33 school candidates and three private candidates have been withheld, along with some subject results of candidates from 149 schools, due to reported irregularities. These withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations.

WAEC’s Warning

“We urge candidates to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated,” said John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs of WAEC.
Academic Year Update
In related news, the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced that first-year students will commence the 2024-2025 academic year on October 30, 2024, alongside continuing students in single-track institutions and second-year students in the transitional academic calendar.
“The start of the academic year on October 30 aims to ensure that the school calendar starts in September next year and pave the way for our final year students to write their 2025/2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May-June,” said Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, acting Director of Schools and Instructions Division of the GES.
How to Check Results
School candidates can access their results through their respective schools, while private candidates can check their results on the WAEC website (www.waecgh.org). School candidates may also access their results online.
Conclusion
The release of the 2024 BECE results marks an important milestone for candidates, parents, and educators. As stakeholders look forward to the new academic year, WAEC’s emphasis on integrity and authenticity serves as a reminder of the importance of fair play in examinations.
