Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS Student Stabbed in Dispute Over Secret Video Recording

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, a violent confrontation at Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS) in Ghana’s Upper West Region left final-year student Iddrisu Ibrahim, known as “Lincoln,” in critical but stable condition after being stabbed by his classmate Hafis, also known as “Baayaawa.”

The incident, reported by JoyNews and other outlets, stemmed from a dispute around 9 p.m. when Hafis accused Lincoln, an Agricultural Science student from Bulenga, of secretly recording a video of him without consent. Hafis, a General Arts student from Bawku, demanded the video’s deletion, but Lincoln’s alleged refusal escalated the argument into a physical altercation.

Eyewitnesses reported that Hafis stabbed Lincoln in the ribs and stomach, with the knife remaining lodged in him until fellow students removed it before rushing him to the Wa Regional Hospital. A female student recounted to Adomonline, “When Lincoln came out, the knife was still stuck in him. Some students removed it before rushing him to the hospital.” The Upper West Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Darko Offei Lomotey, confirmed Hafis’s arrest, and he remains in custody assisting with investigations. Plain-clothed officers have been deployed to the school to prevent retaliation and maintain order, as tensions remain high on campus.

School authorities have not issued an official statement, but security has been heightened to ensure stability. The incident has sparked concerns about student safety, echoing a similar violent episode in 2023 at Gomoa Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, where five students were arrested for stabbing 12 others in a reprisal attack. The ongoing police investigation aims to clarify the circumstances and prevent further unrest.
