University of Cape Coast Student Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Campus

A Level 200 student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident that occurred on the university campus.
The deceased has been identified as Kweku Mensah, who was pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance.
According to an official statement released by the university, the incident took place around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, along the road stretch between the Amissah-Arthur Language Centre and the Sandwich Lecture Theatre.
Preliminary reports indicate that Mensah was riding a motorcycle to Oguaa Hall to collect his identification card in preparation for an upcoming examination. While en route, his motorcycle collided with an Ayalolo bus.
The collision caused severe injuries to the student, who was immediately rushed to the UCC Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The university has reported the matter to the UCC Police and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), which have launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the UCC morgue pending further procedures, and the family has been formally notified of the heartbreaking loss.
In its statement, UCC expressed profound sorrow over the incident and offered its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
“The University extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and urges the University community to remain calm as investigations continue,” the statement read.

The institution assured that it will provide further updates as the probe progresses and called on the campus community to stay composed during this difficult time.
