Two Suspects Shot in Attempted Robbery at Court of Appeal Judge’s Residence in Kumasi

Two young men suspected of trying to rob the home of a Court of Appeal judge are receiving treatment under police guard at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after being shot in the legs during the incident.
The attempted break-in took place around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. The suspects, 23-year-old Patrick Alor and 21-year-old Akwasi Gyamfi, allegedly targeted the judge’s private vehicle parked inside the residence compound.
According to police, the men scaled the perimeter wall armed with cutlasses and a pair of scissors. Their movements were spotted by the judge’s assigned police bodyguard, who was on duty at the property.
When the officer challenged them, the suspects reportedly resisted and tried to overpower him in an attempt to seize his weapon. In response, the officer fired in self-defence, following standard police procedures.
Both men were hit in the legs, subdued immediately at the scene, and rushed to the hospital under police escort for medical care.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command praised the officer’s actions, describing them as “marked by vigilance, professionalism and bravery.” Officials said the quick response likely prevented what could have turned into a more dangerous situation.
Police have reiterated their commitment to protecting members of the judiciary and the general public. They urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity without delay.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the attempted robbery, including possible motives and whether the suspects acted alone. The two men remain under police guard at the hospital while they receive treatment.
