Two brothers, Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon, have been remanded into custody in connection with the alleged murder of a 54-year-old man and the shooting of his wife at Tuba near Weija in the Greater Accra Region.
The two suspects were remanded for two weeks when they appeared before the court, with the case adjourned to August 24, 2026, for further proceedings.
According to the Police, Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted during interrogation that he shot Rahman and his wife.
Investigators say the suspect claimed he was motivated by his perception that the deceased had repeatedly described him as “lazy” and “useless”, comments he alleged had affected him mentally.
Following his arrest, Adams allegedly led investigators to the room he shares with his brother, Bala, at Beach Drive Estate.
Police said a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was subsequently retrieved from beneath a wardrobe in Bala’s room.
Bala, who reportedly works with the deceased, was also arrested and taken into custody for questioning as investigations into the incident continued.
Police investigations have also led to another person identified as Gideon, who Adams allegedly named as the person who gave him the pistol.
Adams reportedly led investigators to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home.
The Police say efforts are ongoing to locate him and determine his possible involvement in the case.
The Accra Regional Police Command, with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), is continuing investigations as the suspects remain in custody.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2026, at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, where Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, were allegedly shot outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The Weija Police received information about the shooting and quickly dispatched personnel to the scene. The couple were found with gunshot wounds and were subsequently rushed to Finney Hospital, Weija, for emergency medical attention.
Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while his wife was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is reportedly responding to treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
