Truck Overturns at Notorious Adukrom-Asenema Curve, Driver and Mate Feared Dead

A cement-laden truck with registration number GT 8702-23 overturned this morning at the dangerous sharp curve between Adukrom and Asenema, leaving the driver and his mate feared trapped and lifeless inside the wreckage.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said the heavily loaded vehicle lost control while navigating the bend, flipped onto its side and came to rest precariously across the road. Both occupants are believed to have perished in the crash, though emergency responders are yet to confirm the exact number of fatalities.

The Ghana National Fire Service has been alerted and a team is en route to carry out rescue and recovery operations. As of now, the truck remains a major obstacle and safety hazard to other road users.

This stretch of road has long been regarded as one of the most hazardous in the area. Just days ago, another serious accident occurred at the same curve when a timber truck lost control, and parts of that wreckage are still visible beside the road.

Local residents and drivers have repeatedly called for urgent safety interventions, including speed calming measures, improved signage, guardrails and road realignment to reduce the risk of future crashes.

Police are at the scene securing the area and directing traffic while investigations begin into the cause of the accident. Preliminary accounts point to excessive speed and the challenging geometry of the curve as possible contributing factors.

Our thoughts are with the families of the driver and mate during this difficult time. Further updates will follow once emergency teams complete their work and more details emerge.
