TIDAL RAVE BROUHAHA, OLELE SALVADOR BREAKS THINGS DOWN
The much-anticipated Tidal Rave Festival 2023, headlined by top Ghanaian artists ,was a night full of energy, fashion, culture and music.
However, the one thing that has captivated attention after the whole festival has not been the electrifying performances of the billed acts on the night, but the brewing backstage tensions and unanticipated chaos that unfolded in the middle of the event.
The discussions about the backstage drama and the manner in which Award winning Dancehall artist Stonebwoy was allegedly forced to stop his performance have made headlines in the last few hours.
Some people close to Stonebwoy have come out to put out certain things, and on the other hand, Sarkodie himself has come out to state categorically that the reports that his team halted Stonebwoy’s performance to make way for him are utterly false.
Amid these reactions, Ghanaian journalist, Olele Salvador, who works with 3 Music TV has shared a post on his social media pages detailing what truly transpired after he allegedly spoke to parties close to the artists caught in the middle of this drama.
🚨DTS Reveal👨🏾🍳🇬🇭🎶🔍: Tidal Rave Festival 2023; Stonebwoy + AngelTown + R2Bees brouhaha:
Just got off the phone with closer sources from all three camps. Here’s what I have gathered:
Interestingly out of the 3(Sark + Stone + R2Bees), Sark was actually the earliest to be there. He was there before Samini; a source close to Stone’s team admitted that they saw Sark at the media village when they arrived.
I can also confirm that the set time allotted for Stone’s performance was 12:15am. That didn’t happen because Joey B’s performance reportedly had to be ‘redone’ due to a technical mishap which also had La Meme following after, pushing stone’s original set time forward.
He was given 45 mins as it were with Samini & the rest of the headliners, but he allegedly took longer than that. (His team denies this claim in their defense.) This infuriated the teams of the rest of the performers backstage including R2Bees who were scheduled to come after.
The mic wasn’t cut by any member of these three teams but rather the front of house who did due to the confusion backstage; lights had to go off for the same purpose.
DJ Mensah will take the opportunity to set up his deck but after a little confrontation with Stone’s manager; AngelTown stepped in to calm nerves and tell Stone who was exiting the stage, in Ewe, to stay out of it because it was under control.
The crux of the issue seems like an issue of who came early, performances reshuffle, longer set times & lack of patience leading to extreme frustration & outbursts backstage.
Sark will come on & perform for less than 20mins & leave right after. R2Bees will also do same & that’s what I think inspired this speech by Mugeez:
