Three Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Kumasi After Holding Woman Hostage for a Week

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects, including a 22-year-old female, in connection with the kidnapping of a 25-year-old woman in early February 2026.
The suspects are:
Christiana Nyarko, 22 (female)
Justice Arhin, 24
Samuel Jackitey, 23
According to police intelligence, the trio abducted Winefred Asieduwaa, 25, and held her hostage for one week at a secret location in Tanoso, a suburb of Kumasi.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom from the victim’s family during her captivity.
The suspects were arrested following a targeted operation by police in Tanoso, leading to the safe rescue of the victim.
All three remain in custody assisting with investigations. Police say efforts are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, including the motive, any ransom payments made, and whether additional accomplices are involved.
No injuries were reported on the victim, who has since been reunited with her family and is receiving support.
The arrest is part of intensified police operations against kidnapping and related crimes in the Ashanti Region, where several high-profile cases have been recorded in recent months.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown persons.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
