THREE SUSPECTED HIGHWAY ROBBERS ARRESTED OVER ATTACK ON MARKET WOMEN IN YEJI

The Ghana Police Service, through its Anti-Armed Robbery Surveillance Unit, has arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery attack at Parambo Sewaba, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District.
The robbery incident reportedly occurred on June 1, 2025, when three armed men allegedly attacked market women travelling from Yeji and made away with cash, mobile phones, and other belongings.
Speaking to Adom News, the Divisional Police Commander for Yeji, Asiamah Emmanuel, said the suspects had been under police surveillance for some time.
According to him, the suspects were allegedly linked to a series of robbery attacks targeting traders along the Yeji–Kumasi highway and routes connecting Yeji to Prang, Parambo, and Abromase.
The suspects — Mohammed Ahmadu, 30, Osmanu Abubakar, 35, and Sumaila Mohammed, 25 — have been arraigned before the Atebubu Circuit Court and remanded into police custody for three weeks.
Police say a search conducted at the residence of Mohammed Ahmadu led to the retrieval of six machetes, a motorbike, a tricycle, and three identification cards bearing different names.
Authorities added that details of the motorbike and tricycle have been forwarded to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority in Techiman for verification as investigations continue.
Chief Superintendent Asiamah Emmanuel also warned criminals operating in the area that the police will continue to intensify operations against robbery and other violent crimes.
