Tema Helicopter Crash: No Black Box on Aircraft, Investigators Turn to Alternative Evidence

Authorities have revealed that the Sky Arrow microlight aircraft involved in the recent crash in Tema did not have a flight data recorder, commonly known as a black box, a development expected to affect ongoing investigations.

John M. K. Wumborti, Acting Commissioner of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, confirmed the detail a day after the tragic incident, which claimed two lives and left residents in shock.

Flight data recorders play a crucial role in aviation investigations, as they capture important information such as altitude, speed, engine performance and pilot inputs. These details often help investigators determine the exact sequence of events leading up to an accident.

However, in the absence of a black box, investigators will now rely on alternative sources of evidence, including eyewitness accounts, technical assessments of the wreckage, and any available communication records, to establish what may have caused the crash.

The development adds a layer of complexity to the investigation as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
