Stonebwoy Donates GH₵100,000 to Black Challenge Ahead of World Cup

Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has donated GH₵100,000 to the Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, to support their preparations for the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation World Cup in Mexico next month.
The musician, known as the president of Bhim Nation, visited the team during a training session at Mensah Sarbah Park on Friday, 23 October 2026, as the reigning African champions intensify their preparations for the tournament.
The competition will take place from 13 to 22 November in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, with Ghana aiming to win its first global amputee football title.
Stonebwoy’s financial contribution provides support for the team’s preparations as they prepare to compete against Angola, Colombia and Iraq in Group D.
Ghana won the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in 2021 before claiming gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023. The team continued that run of success by defending their continental title at the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in Cairo, beating Morocco 2-1 in the final.
Those achievements have strengthened Ghana’s standing in the sport and raised expectations as the team prepares for the challenge of competing against some of the world’s leading amputee football nations.
Despite their dominance on the continent, the Black Challenge are still pursuing their first World Cup title. The November competition in Mexico offers them another opportunity to translate their African success into a global championship.
Ghana also has a significant place in the development of professional amputee football. In 2011, members of the Black Challenge became the first amputee football professionals in the world after signing contracts to play in the Turkish Amputee League.
That milestone marked an important moment for the sport and demonstrated the country’s contribution to creating professional opportunities for amputee footballers.
The team has since continued to represent Ghana in international competitions, building a record of success that includes continental titles and the African Para Games gold medal.
As preparations continue, the Black Challenge will look to carry that record into the World Cup and challenge for the sport’s biggest prize.
