The Minister for Sports and Recreation has sent a goodwill message to the Black Princesses as they prepare to represent Ghana at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland 2026.
In a statement dated September 4, 2026, the Ministry encouraged the young players to step onto the world stage with confidence, carrying the hopes of a nation that believes deeply in their talent, courage and potential.
The statement noted that Ghana has earned its place among the world’s best at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup for eight consecutive editions. It described this consistency as a reflection of the enormous potential within women’s football in the country, while emphasising that every generation must be allowed to write its own story.
The Ministry reminded the players that they have worked hard for this moment, fought through the qualification campaign, earned the right to wear Ghana’s colours on the world stage and spent the past weeks preparing for the challenges ahead.
The Black Princesses will face Ecuador, Korea Republic and France in the group stage. The Ministry urged them to play with confidence, trust their preparation, trust one another, compete for every ball and every minute, and above all, enjoy the privilege of representing Ghana.
It added that young girls in schools, communities and football academies across Ghana will be watching and seeing possibilities for themselves. The players’ journey, the Ministry said, therefore reaches far beyond the results in Poland and forms part of a generation helping to build a stronger future for women’s football in Ghana.
The Government, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the people of Ghana stand firmly behind the team.
The message concluded with a call for the Black Princesses to play with freedom, play with courage and play for one another, affirming that Ghana believes in them.
