The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested six persons in connection with the alleged murder of a tricycle rider at Dulugu-Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District.
The suspects, identified as Avandiba Atubiga Kante, 26; Atua Atombire Mpika, 40; Amale Nyaaba Nicholas, 30; Atua Ayinbotima, 22; Atuah Nsobila Prosper, 21; and Ayine Albert Sunday, 39, are currently assisting the Police with investigations.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the victim, identified as Akolbila Blessing, was a tricycle rider who allegedly failed to meet the required sales target set by the owner of the tricycle, Atua Atombire Mpika.
Preliminary investigations indicate that on August 27, 2026, the victim was allegedly attacked and assaulted by the six suspects over his failure to make the required sales.
The Police said Blessing was subsequently found unconscious in his room the following day.
He was rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga, where he was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.
The six suspects have since been arrested as the Police continue investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the individual roles played by each suspect.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence in resolving disagreements and disputes.
The Police urged members of the public to report grievances to the appropriate authorities for lawful resolution.
The Command has also assured the public of its commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
