SISOs Appeal for Timely Release of Allowances and Logistics for Effective School Supervision

The Conference of School Improvement Support Officers (CoSISO) is appealing to the Government of Ghana, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service for the timely release of their allowances and logistics to improve effective supervision in schools.

The Bono East Regional branch of the Association held its 2nd General Congress in Techiman under the theme “Strategic and Innovative Ways to Improve Learning Outcomes in Our Districts”.

The colourful event attracted more than 90 SISOs, formerly known as Circuit Supervisors, from all the 11 municipalities and districts in the Bono East Region, as well as a host of dignitaries in the education sector.

Speaking in an interview, Mr James Darko, National Secretary of the Conference of School Improvement Support Officers, noted that there is an allowance called “Local Travels” which is supposed to be disbursed timeously to SISOs to cater for their movement around schools. Despite the high risks associated with their job, he said, these monies do not come, hence their appeal to the government.

Reacting to the concerns of the SISOs, Rev. Canon Kingsley Dwamena Asante, Bono East Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, assured them of a resolution to their challenges and advised them to deliver their duties diligently.

Ms Doris Asutane Apangao, Bono East Regional Chairperson of CoSISO, on behalf of all the newly elected executives, pledged to serve the welfare and progress of all members in order to make education better.
